  An NSA tradition, kick off the summer with a happy cruise to Ocracoke. There will be an NSA social on Saturday, and drinks will be provided. Please bring an appetizer to share. Afterwards, there are many restaurant options. Ocracoke Island also has beautiful beaches to explore and many lovely artisan shops. On Sunday, a group often goes to the beach in dinghy if the weather is nice. All updates will be posted on the NSA Facebook page and the forum.

  You can anchor out in Silver Lake, reserve a slip at the marina or you can dock at the government docks, which is first come, first serve.

  This cruise will leave Ocracoke and head back across the Pamlico sound to anchor at Long Shoal River. Next day, we’ll head north and enter the ‘Old House Channel’ and enter the Roanoke Island channel after the Oregon inlet and end up in Manteo Marina. This is all weather dependent of course.

  After Manteo, there are some options, depending on which way the wind is blowing. We could go past Manteo, enter the Alligator River (ICW), head south via the Pungo, then do a big loop back to Ocracoke. Or we could slowly head back the way we came. Either way, the hope is to be back in time for the Ocracoke Music Festival, starting June 6.

  Dinghy Poker Run

  It’s not too early to start thinking about having fun and helping a good cause. 

  For those of you who are new to the Poker Run, here’s how it works: Hands sell for $10@ or$25/3 (including 1 lunch/hand!) at the Tiki Bar at 9:30am and the “run” is from 11am - 1pm.  Players take small boats to 6-7 docks where they draw a card at each dock to fill their hand(s), or you may do land only hands at the Tiki Bar.  Prizes will be awarded for the highest hands. Lunch will be served from 12:30 – whenever.  Live and Silent auctions and 50-50 raffle are held following lunch.

   This is a community event, open to everyone, but staffed primarily by the membership.
