Dave Register presents…OpenCPN
Saturday, September 30, 2017
1:00 p.m. Oriental Town Hall

Speaker, Dave Register is the Lead Developer of OpenCPN, managing a worldwide team of volunteer programmers, writers, and testers.  Dave, Kathi, and Danforth the Boat Beagle have been living aboard Dyad, their trawler catamaran, full time for 17 years.  Their cruising grounds range from Newfoundland to the Bahamas.

Dave will be discussing OpenCPN which is a concise and robust Chart Plotter Navigating software program designed to be used continuously at the helm station of an underway ship or boat, allowing the operator to easily track the vessel’s position on accurate chart images.  This program was developed by a team of active sailors using real world conditions for program testing and refinement.  It should be your primary or a backup to your existing navigation software or tools.  OpenCPN can display tide and current predictions, AIS information, and more. .  OpenCPN runs on a standard pc, laptop, and android systems.  Supports Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX.

Additionally, Dave will be touching on Supported Chart Formats, AIS input and support, Route planning, GPS Tracking, Alarms, Weather collection, Plugins, Chart display, and Data Transfer.

Cruisers…you will not want to miss this seminar.

This NSA sponsored seminar is open to the public and you are not required to register, however you may wish to register to receive  updates and notification of online materials from the seminar.
