The annual Week-long Cruise remains on schedule, with two alternative routes to the same primary destination, Albemarle Plantation Marina, while keeping the club together for the remainder of the week. We will communicate Covid19 related restrictions, if any, at the marinas we will be visiting.
Route 1 follows the traditional course from Oriental to the Pungo River Anchorage east of Belhaven via the Bay River and Hobucken Cut (ICW). Then up the Alligator River-Pungo River Canal to the Alligator River Marina for one night and then on to Albemarle Plantation Marina for three nights at this magnificent "Albemarle Loop" marina development on the north shore of Albemarle Sound at Yeopim Creek.
Route 2, weather permitting, will offer a chance for members to sail at night. The fleet will depart Oriental on Friday evening, June 12, before dusk and sail overnight across Pamlico Sound to Manteo on Roanoke Island, 88nm, via the Old House and Roanoke Island channels. The sun will be up before we enter these channels. After two nights at the Manteo Waterfront Marina, the fleet will sail north around Roanoke Island and west across Albermarle Sound to Albemarle Plantation.
Both groups will rendezvous on Monday at Albermarle Plantation Marina for three nights.
On Thursday, the entire fleet will depart Albemarle Plantation and sail east across Albemarle Sound and down the Alligator River to an anchorage near the northern entrance to the Alligator River-Pungo River Canal. The following day, we will continue on to the Dowry Creek Marina just off the Pungo River for our final two nights. On Sunday, we sail home.
