History and Mission

The Neuse Sailing Association celebrated it's 50th Anniversary in the year 2023, and still going strong!  We celebrated with a party at Point Marina (click here for newsletter about the event) and a 50th Anniversary logo was created by member Erik Hardtle.

Records of the Neuse Sailing Association start with the Articles of Incorporation signed on February 20, 1973, by Joseph H. Cox, Andrew P. Denmark, and Joseph 0. Sargent. Secretary of State Thad Eure certified the Articles on April 13, 1973. Listed as the first six directors were: Joseph H. Cox, Elizabeth A. Cox, Andrew P. Denmark, Mary J. Denmark, Howard M. Ellis, Jr., and Joseph 0. Sargent. The By-Laws set forth by these founders served the NSA for the first 20 years of its existence.

         The Current NSA Burgee

The By-Laws were updated under the administration of Past Commodore Frank Wilson and again in 2016 under Commodore Carl Crothers. The By-Laws can be read here. A revised set of Articles of Incorporation are forthcoming.

The NSA was organized for these purposes:

• To promote activities of a social and recreational nature, including, but not limited to, the operation of other kindred endeavors. 
• To conduct such private club for the best physical and moral welfare of the members thereof. 
• To enable the members to gather together for the mutual benefit and enjoyment into an athletic and social group. 
• The development of the art and science of sailing, the acquisition of knowledge of the theory and practice of seamanship, navigation, and allied subjects; and the furthering of this purpose by promotion and encouragement of races, regattas, and cruises.

Lifetime NSA Members

The NSA recognizes individual members who have made significant contributions to the club over many years. Lifetime members enjoy free membership for life.
