North Cruise to Manteo

Come see historic Manteo and enjoy all the things it has to offer! This cruise will leave Ocracoke on Tuesday, May 27th or Wednesday, May 28th, depending on when the wind looks favorable, and head back across the Pamlico Sound to anchor at Long Shoal River. If there are favorable south winds, however, we have the option to go all the way to Manteo in one day. Either way, we’ll head north and enter the ‘Old House Channel’ and enter the Roanoke Island Channel after the Oregon inlet and end up at the Manteo Marina on Wednesday. We plan to stay there for three nights. There are currently slips available, so hop on Dokwa and make your reservations. There is also a nice anchorage as another option.

We will have a social on Thursday at the marina. Drinks will be supplied, so let us know what your favorites are! There are also plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. There is also the Lost Colony Tavern, which might be a bike ride or dinghy ride away.  We can organize a trip to the Lost Colony for those who are interested. The historical Manteo Walking tour is another possible activity https://www.manteowalkingtour.com/ followed by lunch together.

On Saturday, we plan to sail up past Manteo and enter the Alligator River (ICW). We will anchor one night in the wide part of the Alligator River. The next day, we will continue back southwest to the Pungo River and spend a night at Dowry Creek or Bellhaven. And then we will loop back to Ocracoke. The plan is to be back in Ocracoke by June 3rd or 4th, in plenty of time for the Ocrafolk music festival! There is also the option to head back to Oriental for anyone who would prefer that.
