Let’s beat the summer heat and cruise on over to the wide-open anchorage field of West Bay! West Bay is located on the Pamlico’s southernmost shore between the mouth of the Neuse River and the headwaters of Core Sound. It is a large, remote body of water with plenty of good anchorage areas. The bay has good depths and ample markings. Come as you please for a relatively short trip of 21 nautical miles from the Oriental Harbor channel. As long as the weather cooperates and the North winds don’t blow we’ll enjoy the chill natural beauty of this remote area. There is a beautiful beach area within a reasonable dinghy ride where we’ll plan a beach meet-up/bond fire on Saturday. If you don’t have a dinghy no worries - your hosts can whisk you up so you can get some sand in your toes!
