Ocracoke Island, known as the "Pearl of the Outer Banks,"is a little piece of paradise just six or seven hours from Oriental by sailboat. The island offers great restaurants, cool shops, friendly people, nightly entertainment and one of the best beaches in the U.S. For Halloween, few town celebrations can match Blackbeard's Pirate Jamboree on Ocracoke. What could be more frightening than Blackbeard, who still haunts the island's residents and those who dare to visit.
(Oct 19) It's not too late to make plans to join us! I have heard that if you want a slip Anchorage Inn and Marina might still have some available so give them a call. Our social will on Saturday, the 28th at 3:30PM under the gazebo at the Anchorage Marina. Please bring an appetizer to share and come dressed in your Halloween best!
As an alternative to The Anchorage Inn & Marina, you may prefer to anchor out in Silver Lake or use the reasonably priced National Park Service docks and facilities, which also operate on a first-come, first served basis.
We plan to have a social under the Gazebo on Saturday afternoon. As usual, NSA supplies wine and beer and everyone is asked to bring a dish or dessert to share. And, oh yeah, come in costume. Blackbeard doesn't take kindly to those who don't join in the spirit.
