This event is not a sponsored NSA event, and is being hosted by the Sailing Club of Oriental (SCOO). Since all sailors around Oriental are invited, we thought we'd promote it for your information.

SCOO REGRETTA REGATTA HEADQUARTERS
ORIENTAL, NC
The Sailing Club of Oriental (SCOO) formally announces the 2020 REGRETTA REGATTA. The Regatta will be held on the Neuse River off of Oriental, NC on Thursday, 17 September 2020. The first start will be at 1200 hrs. GPS time. The event will be everyone starting at the same time on a line between the start boat (Rock in his Hunter 36, Simple Pleasures) and the virtual line to Oriental 1 (SC).
As this is open to all sailors in the area, please don’t treat it as a competitive race - we are just out having fun!
The course will be some variation using the Government marks of Oriental FL G #1, Garbacon Shoal FL G #7 and Adams Creek FL G #1AC.

To refresh, the REGRETTA takes advantage of the “TCR”…..you are allowed three cheats. Does anyone keep count? For example …you might sail during the race with your engine on and in gear, to be more competitive with the hot shot ODC guys/gals. You also might decide the race course is tooooooo long and ignore one of the designated marks so as to win the more contested race to the head of the food line at the social that follows at Lou Mac Park. The shore side activities include the “trophy” presentations followed by a ”covered dish social.” Remember to bring sufficient covered dish/s (with food in them of course) to feed six to eight people and of course chairs. SCOO’s Social Committee will be providing beverages (soft drinks, water, and ice) and the tables necessary for your covered dishes/deserts. If you need something stronger to drink it’s BYOB.

If there are sufficient weather issues to have to cancel the race, I’ll make that call and send an e-mail prior to 10:00 on the 17th. Every attempt will be made to still have the social with the requisite social distancing.
