2018 - it's “NSA Time”

2018 has arrived in spectacular fashion with record low temperatures, frozen creeks and snow! I do not remember it being sub freezing for this many days in Oriental and seeing boats iced in at their docks!! Hopefully everyone was able to prepare their vessels for the extreme cold and that with the thaw all systems will be fine!

This year marks the Neuse Sailing Association’s 45th anniversary. Our founders wanted to bring sailors together to enjoy racing (primarily) but soon realized they needed to embrace the cruising and social opportunities to grow the club. I thank them!! Our club has grown over the years due to people like you who become members and then support and volunteer to sustain club activities. I encourage you to go to the NSA website, sign on and follow the “prompt” to renew your membership. Your commitment is the foundation of our NSA. Please help recruit new members by sharing with them your experiences and directing them to the NSA website which is a great marketing tool.

We need volunteers to assist with Cruising, Socials, Seminars, Membership, Anniversary Race, Dinghy Poker Run etc..... There are many opportunities to pay back to your club and leadership. If you want to take an active role in the future and Leadership of the NSA please contact me ( Chuck Gordon, commodore@neusesailingassociation.org, or call/text 919 880 7879). Your 2018 Bridge members are just beginning their tenure but I am now looking for people who are interested in serving in 2019!!!

Your 2018 Bridge wishes you a Marvelous New Year! Sharon and I wish you a great year and we look forward to seeing each of you!

Our theme for the year is “it’s NSA TIME!” come join us!

Membership

January is a Time of Renewal

It’s that time of the year and your NSA membership renewal e-mail has been sent as a reminder.   We have over 65 members who have renewed their membership.  They know there are many events and benefits they don’t want to miss.  If you’re waiting to renew membership later, don’t run the risk of forgetting.  You can log into your profile at https://neusesail.wildapricot.org/Sys/Profile  and renew on line.    You have other options as well; send your renewal by mail to Neuse Sailing Association, PO Box 253, Oriental, NC 28571.  You will also have an opportunity to renew in person at the Oyster Roast, February 24, 2018 at the Oriental Inn and Marina.   (Read about the details in Paul & Becky’s article).

We have two new members Cara Keys on “Another Day in Paradise” (she’s on land) along with John and Christi Johnston, on “Christi Anne,” at Oriental Harbor Marina.  When you see them, please be sure to welcome them to the NSA.

If anyone is having any difficulty with their renewal, contact:  vccommunications@neusesailingassociation.org

Yet One More Perk to NSA Membership

If the awesome sailing and congenial camaraderie weren't enough incentive to renew your 2018 membership, here is a reminder about one more benefit:  NSA members get a discount for BoatU.S.! Members of the NEUSE SAILING ASSOCIATION will receive $15 BoatU.S. Membership dues and 10% off water towing service! (International Membership dues are $20.) Click on the Membership Perks page on the website for details.

Get Ready for Vessel Safety Check in March

Cape Lookout Sail and Power Squadron is partnering with NSA again to perform a vessel safety check.  The date will be Saturday, March 24th 2018.  Organized by NSA's Brian McLamb, we will also use the signup sheet like year’s past.  As a reminder to all, there has been a recall on Kidde fire extinguishers so members should check and replace prior to inspection day so no unpleasant surprise occurs.
